Marketing Strategies and Communication

The following work you are seeing are all relating to projects which I have developed my skill of strategic planning and coming up with effective communication plans. This includes my Year 2 live project with Bravissimo and Boots as well as my Year 3 Stage 2 assignment. These act as examples of not only how my work has developed over the years but also how I have developed this skill further in real life situations.

year 2 - bravissimo live project

Within second year, we got the amazing opportunity to work with Bravissimo on a live project. The brief was to come up with a marketing strategy and communication plan for Bravissimo to grow their presence in the US. I throughly enjoyed this project and after making my personality known, I was asked to be a finalist was invited to present my ideas in front of the brands marketing team. This was an amazing opportunity and gave me so much confidence and helped to develop my skills within presenting and coming up with an effective marketing strategy. Even though I did not win this, I was invited to complete a 2 week marketing and buying placement at the head office in July 2021. This was an amazing opportunity and taught me so much - truly something I will never forget!

year 2 - boots live project

Within second year, we were given a great opportunity to work with Boots on a live brief project. The project was teamwork based and was completed within the height of COVID19. This meant that there was a lot of pressure on strong communication via online methods to make sure the work completed was done and to the best standard. From the work below, you can see that our team was given the brand Sleek. the proposal was to come up with a new and innovative product based on consumer research as well conducting a situational analysis on the brand. Makeup isn't really my strong suit however, I throughly enjoyed this project and worked within a great team which effectively completed the brief and received an amazing grade of a High 2.1. I learnt from this that teamwork is essential within the marketing world and time management is key with the work conducted.

year 3 - stage 2, the naked network

Stage 2 was all about coming up with a brand concept proposal based on stage 1 insights.

Women’s intimate and sexual health has been stigmatized by society for decades and thus still stands. It has centred women in being misunderstood and shamed, by not having these conversations women are left feeling confused and frustrated, unable to enjoy their best life.

This report demonstrated a clear business proposal for the Naked Network, an online community for women who are seeking support and education for women’s intimate health and sexual health concerns. The proposed bespeaks sufficient market research as well as understanding the target consumer. Thus, ultimately creating an effective and integrated communication plan in which would be launched. Additionally, the business plan has underpinned a 3-year strategy and financial proposition to address the concept to ensure the plan is commercially viable.

This final project has definitely been the most emotional and mentally draining yet the most rewarding. It was obvious that is is a need in society and I personally was approached to see if I wanted to take this to market. I overall am very happy with the work and am so grateful to all the women who have helped me from the start of this journey.

TREND FORECASTING

The next pieces of work are demonstrating how trend forecasting has been demonstrated and developed through my university life. This includes projects such as the Year 1 Trend Forecasting project based on the Square Toe shoe as well as Year 3 Future Thinking assignment.

year 1 trend forecasting

THE SQUARE TOE

Within Year 1, we were given a brief of selecting a trend to which we would see lasting multiple years. This demonstrated an effective skill of trend forecasting. The brief included looking at the past of the trend and forecasting where it was predicted to go, unlike a fad. The project consisted of working within a team and presenting a presentation as well as completing an individual report based on the chosen trend. As a group, we chose the Square Toe trend. We predicted it would continue for many years and as we have seen in todays world is something which is still very strongly around. I again loved working within a team and throughly enjoyed the project even being in the height of COVID19, I felt like I adapted very well.

year 3 future thinking

WOMEN'S TABOO SUBJECTS AND FEMALE EMPOWERMENT

The brief of this project was to explore one key macro trend that is influencing society. This was to ultimately shape the final projects to establish a key area of focus which have been developed through further research over the year. Through exploring the origins of this trend, I looked into how it has evolved and where it may lead. I chose this topic because its something I am personally very passionate about. I think society has created stigmas and shame surrounding taboo subjects and this project abled me to develop my trend forecasting skills as well as supporting how it was going to link to my Stage 1 assignment.

brand identity and creation

Brand Creation and Identity has been demonstrated through the Year 2 Brand Development Project, Year 3 Brand Me and Year 3 Stage 2. This skill is effective in being able to convey and create a new brand, showing creative talent and being able to use softwares such as Indesign and Photoshop in an effective way.

year 2 brand development

The assessment detailed building a successful fashion brand. Included was developing an appreciation of the strategies used by industry professionals in order to create a successful fashion brand. The Brand Development and Promotion element was in collaboration with BA (Hons) Fashion Design introduced us to inter- disciplinary working. Being partners with a Fashion Design student had its challenges but the goal was to individually launch and craft a new brand based around their design work. The report itself was a Brand Launch pack. included was the brand story, USP, mission and vision, market overview, consumer profiles and segmentation, a 12 month integrated communication plan and 12 month finance plan. This project not only focuses on brand identity creation, it also helped develop other skills such as market research and communication strategy. The pairing of the fashion design student had its challenges. Whilst still being in COVID19, communication was impertinent to a collaborative project. Weekly meetings were scheduled in order to both see where each other were within the project and messages were communicated often. This again highlights the important of being able to work collaboratively and is an effective skill to take into industry.

year 3 brand me

As part of our final year projects, we have had to explore our own brand identity. This looked at coming up with our own colour scheme and logo surrounding our personalities and the vision we are giving off. You see above inspiration of how I envisioned my branding to look as well as my logo! This really helped explore our personalities in a professional way. I personally feel connected to warmer tones such as pink, orange and yellow as they to me represent happiness, strength, kindness and humour.

academic writing

This section looks at work which has been completed which has progressed my academic writing and literature skills. This includes the Year 3 Stage 1 assignment and Future Thinking assignment in Year 3 also. In the Stage 1 assignment, a literature review was conducted which I personally throughly enjoyed and felt very connected overall to my project.

year 3 - stage 1

Stage 1 was the next project to follow after Future Thinking. This project brief considered looking at existing secondary research in a literature review and conducting primary research to find insights to form possible business concepts for Stage 2. I throughly enjoyed this project and was so happy with the overall topic I chose. This project was very personal to me and I had some amazing women help me through primary research which has ultimately formed great connections. The literature review was something which had not been completed within university work before however, I really enjoyed looking at previous research to see how society has changed in reaction to women's intimate and sexual health topics. Overall, this project revealed great insights into how women still feel relating to health issues and there was so much potential identified which followed through to the Stage 2 assignment.

year 3 - stage 2, executive summary

The Stage 2 Executive Summary help highlight the key factors of the-reposed business concept in a more structured and defined manor. The report was around 1000 words and within this still gave enough evidence of the existing market, details of the first year communication plan, years 2 and 3 strategies and analysed the financials to support the business concept to be commercially viable.
